METROCRAFT TECH INSTRUCTIONS

In order to get ready for our Metrocraft class we ask that you download Minetest and install it on your computer. There are a few steps. We have included both step by step instructions and a tutorial video. Feel free to use whichever you are more comfortable with...

STEP 1: DOWNLOADING MINETEST

Note: If you have a Mac click here instead:

The first step is to install “Minetest.” Minetest is a free, public domain version of Minecraft. They are basically the same program, but Minetest allows us to make more modifications, it works on older computers and best of all, it’s free. I have attached the instructions for the program here. I will be sending a password for your child in a separate email. Once you get on, would you just send me a quick reply saying that you were able to log in (matt@rightbraincurriculum.com)

Tutorial Video

For the Address/Port, put minetesthosting.com and the port number 32789

For the name put your child's first name followed by the #1. The password is your child's age and the first name on your Outschool account. For instance, if Carole signed up for an account for her son matt who is 9 years old, the username would be "matt1" (all lowercase) and the password would be "9carole" in all lowercase.

If you have any trouble with usernames or passwords, email matt@rightbraincurriculum.com and I can send it over to you.

Then watch this 3 minute video about how we use Class Dojo.

OUR CURRICULUM

Next, we want to talk a bit about how our curriculum works. By now, you should have received an invitation to a Google folder about the program you will be teaching. You may want to open up that Google Drive folder as you watch the following video.

Please check out this 4 minute video in which we describe how to navigate our curriculum.

LOGISTICS

Finally, what follows is some important information regarding program logistics. This is general info that applies to all or most of our programs. You will also receive a summary email related to your specific program with info such as the WIFI log-in at the location at which you will teach, the address of the school or center and the dismissal procedure.

Questions to Answer

Once we do find a class or classes in your area to teach, three steps will follow...

1. We will send an introduction to the school or recreation center that we partner with, introducing you electronically to the director. They may require a CORI form or other background check.

2. We will send you the curriculum for the class electronically through Google Drive. We will also send you to a website that will walk you through some key information about the upcoming program.

3. We will find a time to meet up with you to do a quick program training and to get you all of the materials you will need. These will usually be provided in a teacher's rolling cart. Because we have programs running all over Massachusetts we will meet up with you in the town in which you live, usually at a Panera, Starbucks or similar spot that is convenient.

We will reach out to you soon, but in the meantime you might check out some of the programs that we offer by clicking the home button or surfing back to rightbraincurriculum.com
