METROCRAFT TECH INSTRUCTIONS
In order to get ready for our Metrocraft class, we ask that you download Minetest and install it on your computer. There are a few steps in this process. We have included a tutorial video below.
STEP 1: DOWNLOADING MINETEST
Note: This tutorial is for Macs
The first step is to install “Minetest.” Minetest is a free, public domain version of Minecraft. Minecraft and Minetest are basically the same program, but Minetest allows us to make more modifications, it works on older computers and best of all, it’s free. Please note we generally find it is helpful to have a mouse when playing. Many kids have successfully played using a trackpad but it's definitely easier to play games of this sort with a mouse.
MAC Tutorial Video
Once you follow the steps in the video and get to the log-in screen, put in the following info. For the Address/Port, put in minetesthosting.com and the port number 40475
For the name, put your child's first name in all lower-case.
The password is the first name on your Outschool account. For instance, if "Carole" signed up for an account for her son "Matt", the username would be "matt" (all lowercase) and the password would be "carole" in all lowercase.
If you have any trouble with usernames or passwords, email firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send it right over to you.
STEP 3: LET SAVVY KNOW YOU'RE ALL SET
If you are able to log into Minetest and get into Google Sheets, please indicate "YES" on the first page of the Google Sheet I sent over in the emailso we know you are all set. It looks something like below...
